2.               Negative bench talk is inappropriate.  Do not criticize your teammates. Everyone should be trying to do their best – respect the efforts of others.

3.               Do not argue or talk back to the coaches – ever.  Should a player abuse this, coaches have the authority to bench (no play) a player for a discretionary amount of time.  If you want to discuss the intentions of your actions/play, do so after the game is over.

4.               Players must attend team meetings when called.  If you miss a meeting, you tacitly agree to abide by any decisions made by the team in the meeting.

Section II: PRACTICE & PLAY

1.               Generally, we will have two (2) or more scheduled games per month. Players will be guaranteed participation in one (1) game per month.   The other games scheduled are to accommodate all players on the team.  Players can sign up for all games, but if roster cuts are necessary, then the roster will be filled based on getting each player their one game per month and the level of play necessary for competition.  If by chance you get to play in more than one game during the month, it is to be considered a privilege, not a right.

2.               Scheduled games can be designated as Varsity, Jr. Varsity, and Development.  Players need to sign up for the level they are comfortable with.   It will not be uncommon to have some varsity level players in a development game to support and teach developing players.

3.               All players must be dressed 15 minutes prior to practice and game times, and arrive 30 minutes prior to game times (this is so the coach can finalize the lines, please be courteous).  If you are late, you must dress in the bathroom, or another locker room.

4.               Per coach’s request, players will wear a white jersey for practice.  This facilitates dividing the team for scrimmages.

5.               Stretching shall be done prior to taking the ice before practice, to maximize use of the ice.  If you feel you must stretch after a brief skate, then you can step off the ice, into the middle of the ice and out of the way of the warm up drills, or onto the bench.

6.               A season will run from September thru April.  Team activities over the summer are not part of the season.

7.               The schedule of games will be posted as soon as possible and will be available for signup 30-days prior to the scheduled game date.

8.               Rosters for games will be a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.  All players must be active Wings members.  In the event that more than 15 skaters want to play a game and to ensure that all members have an opportunity to play, the following criteria will be used to select players.

a.     Those who participated in the previous game will be looked at first to begin the elimination process.

b.     Needed positions – offense/defense

c.     Attendance at practices

d.     Personal player skills

e.     Head coach (or delegate) decision

9.               Rosters for games will be established 1 week prior to the game by utilizing the signup on the web site.  If less than 15 skaters have signed up and additional skaters would like to play, it must be requested through the captain, who will coordinate with the coach.  If more than 15 skaters have signed up before the two week cut off, then the list will be determined based on Section II Paragraph 8.

10.           Tournament play is intended to be more competitive.  Therefore, rosters for tournaments will be a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.  All players must be active Wings members.  In the event that more than 15 skaters want to play in a tournament, the following criteria will be used to select players.

a.     Needed positions – offense/defense

b.     Player skill

c.     Attendance a practices

d.     Head coach’s decision final

11.           All team members and coaches must follow USA Hockey rules for IMR requirements as well as equipment requirements.

12.           Rosters for tournament will be finalized 30 days prior to a tournament by utilizing the signup on the web site.  This will allow the board to determine if the team will be attending the tournament.  If less than 15 skaters or no goalie has signed up for the tournament, the tournament coordinator may locate players from other organizations.  This skater can participate in the practice prior to the tournament date.  If a skater wishes to participate after the deadline, she must request through the manager and captain.  This request will be considered if slots are still available and based on Section 10.

13.           In the event that a player wishes to participate on another team during a tournament, the request must be made through the captain.  The captain and the coach will determine if that player can participate or not based on the needs of our own team.  A person who participates on another team during tournament play without advising the captain or coach will not be allowed to participate in future tournaments for that season.

14.           In the event that more than 1 goalie is on the roster for the season the following rules will apply:

a.     A maximum of four (4) goalies will be allowed during each season.  This is to allow the maximum amount of practice for goalies.

b.     There will always be two (2) and only 2 goalies dressed for practices.

c.     A practice rotation schedule will be established so that only two (2) goalies are dressed at any given time for practice.

d.     The goalies not scheduled for that practice will be given the option to dress out and participate with the team drills as a skater or not dress for that practice.

e.     A goalie that is scheduled for practice and cannot attend needs to contact another goalie to take her place or the captain so that another goalie can be at practice in her place.

f.      Goalies are required to signup for games on the web site that they are available for.  Based on the goalies that have signed up, which goalie will play will be determined using the following criteria:

1)    Goalie Coach and Captain decision

2)    Head Coach input

3)    Attendance at practices

4)    Skill level required

2.               Every year, jersey costs will be re-evaluated.

3.               Those players who do not want to purchase a team/practice jersey can borrow from the team pool.  At each game, the jersey manager will distribute a jersey to those who need one and the jersey must be returned after the game – not taken home by the wearer.  The team will attempt to maintain 5 jerseys for rental.

4.               Equipment for new players will be managed by the captain or a delegate.  The captain will maintain a list of equipment on loan.

e.     Captain and Alternates – Represents players to board, coaches & refs. Responsible for warm-ups before games.

2.               The election of team officers shall occur at the end of each season.  This gives new officers the summer to prepare for the next season.

a.     Officers will serve for 2-year terms, with the exception of the Capitan, who will have a 1-year term.  Officers can be re-elected for unlimited number of terms.

b.     Elections for the offices of manager and secretary shall occur on opposite years as the elections for the offices of assistant manager and treasurer.

c.     Elections shall be conducted by secret ballot.

d.     Members will vote for one manager, one secretary, one assistant manager, and one treasurer.  In the case of a tie, the team will vote between the tying members only.

e.     Every eligible (see rule IV.3.a) player will be placed on the ballot, and all players present will vote.

f.      A player not wishing to be on the ballot must contact a board member prior to the election process.

g.     The ballots will be counted by the board and results reported to the team those elected have accepted the positions.

h.     Should a player decline their election, the second elected player will be offered the position.  If necessary, a second vote will be taken.  Should a board member leave the team, a new vote will be conducted.

3.               A captain and 2 alternates will be chosen by secret ballot at the beginning of the season to serve for 1 year, based on the following criteria:

a.     All players who were on the team the previous (current season of vote) year are automatically eligible for nomination.

b.     A nominee has the right to decline her nomination.

c.     A list of all nominees will be prepared.  Each player in attendance at that scheduled voting time will have an opportunity to vote for a Captain and 2 Alternates.  The ballots will be submitted in secret, and counted by the head coach. In the event of a protest, the ballots will be read before the team.

d.     Members will vote for three captains.  In order to have continuity from one season to the next, one of the three votes must be for a current captain or alternate.

e.     The member receiving the most votes will be captain, the members receiving the second and third most votes will be the alternate captains, respectively.  In the event of a tie, the current captain will make the final decision.

f.      The person acting as captain in any given game must be skating out, i.e., they cannot be in the net (goalie).  If a goalie/skater is elected Captain, an alternate will take the role of captain for any games when the captain is in goal.

g.     If a captain/alternate sustains an injury during the season but will be able to return, then an alternate captain will be chosen for each game by the head coach.  If the other duties (rosters, etc) cannot be performed by the injured captain/alternate, then the other two captains will fill in her place.

h.     If a captain/alternate sustains an injury during the season that will not allow her to return for the rest of the season, then an alternate captain will be chosen to take her place under Section IV paragraph 3 guidelines.

i.       The Captain or Alternates may be removed from their position at any time during the year by the decision of the coach and the team board members based on attendance, performance of Captain’s duties, or attitude.

4.               Every player is expected to support and help during the season and our tournament.

Section V:   FINANCES

1.               IMR fees must be paid before any player or coach will be allowed on the ice.  New players wanting to “try it out” to see if they enjoy it must still pay the IMR fee.

2.               Each team member will be required to purchase the package ice deal (except as noted in Section V, Paragraph 3).  This lowers the price for every player, encourages better attendance, and provides financial security for the team.  Ice fees for a year/season will be determined by estimated number of players, number of practice times, number of games scheduled, referee expenses for said games, social functions, and miscellaneous expenses.

3.               Paying $7 for a single practice/game will only be done in the following situations:

a.     Those past members who have moved away and are in town visiting.

b.     Those members who are in an injured status at the beginning of the season and will only be able to attend a few practices (i.e. waiting for surgery date).

4.               Players must pay ice fees by their second skate.  If a player comes once at the beginning of the season, then doesn’t return until after the “pro-rated” cost takes effect, they will still be responsible for paying the original full ice package price.   All players are still required to pay the IMR fee prior to any skating.

5.               The ice fees will be computed for the entire season.  Players will be charged half the amount for September thru December, and another half from January thruApril.

6.               A player that brings in a sponsor double the amount above the cost of ice fees for that season shall not be required to pay ice fees for that season.  Summer play, tournaments, uniforms, and IMR fees are not included. This dollar amount will be re-evaluated each season in relation to actual ice costs.

7.               No ice fees will be refunded, except in the case of pregnancy or 3 month minimum injury (as described in rule V.8)

8.               Fees for players starting later in the season will be pro-rated based on the number of practices and games remaining and a flat rate per ice time.  The date in the season at which the pro-rated fees will take effect will depend on a break-even point at when the cost of the pro-rated fee becomes less than the package price.

9.               A credit for ice fees can be given in the event of a player becoming pregnant or sustaining an injury that prevents them from playing for a minimum of 3 months.  The credit will be computed as the pro-rated value of the remaining skates (practices & games) in the season.  The credit must be redeemed within 6 months of injury release (doctors note required) or 1 year of birth, or the following September, should the recovery term end during the Summer (June-August).  Award of credit is subject to board approval.

10.           Any credit left on the books at the end of the season will be considered a donation to the team except as stated in Section III Paragraph 8 or if authorized by the team treasurer.

Section VI:   POLICIES

1.               At the beginning of every season, every player and coach will be given access to the rules, and will be required to acknowledged that they have read and accept the rules.

2.               The rules can be changed by the following policy:

a.     Any team member (player or coach) can suggest a change or problem to any board member.

b.     The board will meet and discuss the suggestion.

c.     If the board agrees that a change should be made, they will write up the new/revised rule.

d.     The change will be distributed to all team members for their review for at least 1 week prior to voting.

e.     A paper ballot vote will be held at a practice for all members to vote on the proposed change.  If the team approves the change, the rules will stand changed.

3.               Babysitting policies will be followed based on the babysitting policy document.
